Last Thursday, May 24th, saw the Scottish Ladies Team take the gold medal
in their annual Home International this year hosted by the Lake of Menteith. The
weather which had been cold at the beginning of the week, changed on the 22nd
with temperatures steadily climbing to the high 20s with no cloud cover, making
angling extremely difficult and hot. Despite the weather change, the Lake
continued to fish with buzzers, particuarly in the Butts where the Match was
largely won. C&KAC Vice President Jane Wright, also International President
for the 2012 Home International, came fourth in the Scottish Team (out of
12) with 6 fish. Jane said "it was very hot out there with no wind, we knew
there were pods of fish but they switched on a different times so getting the
timing right was crucial. The Butts didn't fish for me but luckily we found a
pod of fish in the afternoon close in at Roman Bay which were more 'cooperative'
than most of the rest. Although Scotland were expected to win on our home water,
it doesn't always follow, particularly as the English are very good at buzzer
fishing'. |
